Tankful of Blues
I heard the name Sherman Doucette before, but I never had the chance to listen to any of his stuff (after all he's way out west and I'm not). I managed to get my hands on a copy of Sherman with his new band and I really liked what I heard. Another harp album you say! Well yes, but another great harp album. His originals "Siideways", "The Blues Aint Nothing" and Bb Boogie" are great examples of some fine up-beat tunes. Sherman also covers "The Thrill is Gone" and "Crazy Mixed Up World" quite nicely. He has quite a few albums and sound clips featured on his website that you might want to check out. (www.shermandoucette.com) - EB
Bittersweet
Sherman doucette's third CD rocks with great harp, Doucette's gravely voice which some compare with Greg Allman and Bobby Bland's and Doucette's original lyrics throughout. This rock CD is somewhat of a departure from Doucette's previous two albums. "Bittersweet sounds a lot more mature I think and a little more settled than our previous efforts," commented Doucette. "The first album was more rock and roll with seven originals and three covers; second album was mostly covers with two or three originals, recorded live at the Yale Hotel. Now were trying to get a hit, trying to go more mainstream so we've written the songs on this album to be radio friendly with grooves and feels that a lot of people can relate to."
